Quick School Morning & Book #3

I was planning on having time to do "normal" school this morning with both kids, but K didn't sleep well again last night (3rd night in a row) and continued her barking cough & wheezing so I knew we'd have to make a trip to the dr's office. I made the latest morning appt I could make...11:15 a.m. so we crammed D's school into an hour (usually it takes us about 1 1/2 hours total time uninterrupted) and I didn't even attempt K's schedule for the day...we'll make it up tomorrow.

C was quiet in her crib while I worked with D. K sat on my lap or played with the large cardboard box in the playroom. God knew I needed to get through his schoolwork quickly!

Thankfully, for math he just had a math test for Chapter 5 which he completed quickly and got everything right (just reversed a number 2). He's excited to get into chapter 6 tomorrow...counting to 100 by 1's and 10's.

He learned about the 10 commandments today and had to role play being an Israelite looking toward Mt. Sinai while God was giving Moses the commandments. He even got to flick the lights on/off (which he LOVED doing because usually this is a playroom "no no") like the lightning that flashed.

We read another Reddy Fox chapter - we're two chapters away from finishing the book. The chapter tied into his handwriting paper which was a sentence that said, "D lives at home on...his address." He did a great job writing all the letters correctly! The handwriting is coming!!!

For Phonics, he read the entire book of Hop on Pop as his third book on his October Book-It list. This book is a great early reader and at the end are the words Constantinople and Timbucktu which were the only ones he needed help sounding out. :o) I love to listen to him read! We also did the first page of Phonics Pathways and he read it fluently, so next time we'll do a few more pages at a time and then slow down when he gets "stuck" on something he doesn't know yet.

Tomorrow should be fun...edible playdough is scheduled in D's guide and K gets to pick a letter and cover it with glitter! :o)
