Back at it!

Drew's school began this morning at 6:30 a.m. as we left for the chiropractor - though he didn't know it was "school." Ha! He was able to see all the stars out and after about 15 minutes he observed light appearing on the eastern horizon. By the time we arrived at the office (7:30 a.m.) the only night light in the sky was Jupiter (brightest light to be seen in the sky besides the moon - most people confuse it with the north star - the north star isn't so bright). All the other stars "disappeared" because of the sun coming up - though Drew told me they just became "invisible" instead. He was intrigued by it and I realized that is probably the first sunrise he has seen - we're not normally out of the house or traveling that early! :o)

We were back at the dining room table just after lunch for our "structured" school time today. Thankfully Claire took a great nap so we were able to get everything done without her interruptions!

Kate put together a puzzle all by herself (24 pieces - she can do it but always begs for my help so I've decided that while I school Drew I will give her "projects" to do each day - learning games/puzzles, etc. that she has to do on her own to build confidence & independence from me). She's back in another leotard again...yes, it's freezing in our house yet this is what she chooses to wear - no sweatshirt, pants, socks...

Drew picked back up with HOD (no complaints) and we reviewed briefly where our history lessons left off in the fall. Drew discovered that it's easier to roll a "barrel" up steps using a ramp rather than just up each step...as the Pilgrims loaded their boat. In the pic below he's not using the ramp (a.k.a. cutting board) yet.He decided to take apart the globe today - just to see how it works. And then asked if he could take apart my computer. I assured him he can one day...just not right now. ;o) I'm so not prepared to teach this kid science & mechanics!

We had a great Bible discussion today reading PS119:33-40 - about not watching worthless things, setting our hearts on God's laws and the delight we have when we obey God. He drew an outline of his head/shoulders and then copied Ps 139:14 as that is the verse that goes with his unit we just finished up ("I am fearfully & wonderfully made...").

I'm glad we're back with HOD - makes my life less stressed! :o)
