C went crying into the nursery (as usual). C lasted 2 hours in the nursery before someone came to me telling me she was really upset. I asked if they'd give her a snack - found out no snack was provided. :o( Thankfully, there was a half pack of crackers on the nursery shelf leftover from the service on Sunday that they gave to her. She lasted the final hour...but next week I'm going prepared with snacks in her bag! :o)
When the preschool class was called, K went right away and stood by her teachers. She remains in the preschool room all morning with the same teachers doing fun preschool things. She brought home a red apple craft complete with glitter & told me she ate apples for her snack!
D began his morning with me in the 1st period class that I teach for 1/2 grades. He went on from my class to the Dinosaurs class and finally to art. He told me he's making Mr. Potato Head pieces out of clay! He loved it! The only thing he didn't like too well was the bit of writing he had to do in his Dinosaurs class (in the process of assembling a lapbook) but it was a good experience for him. I'm glad he has to listen to other teachers and cooperate in class even if it's something he doesn't want to do (i.e. writing).
Tuesday was back to our normal HOD curriculum. K enjoyed getting the paints out and mixing red, blue & yellow to make orange, green & purple. She was painting a coffee filter in stripes (dipping in paint & then water - watercolor-like) to be like Joseph's coat of many colors.
To introduce the next genre of literature for D's storytime...ADVENTURE...I made a treasure map (brown marker is hard to see in the picture)...it led him upstairs, through the kitchen, to his room & finally to the piano bench where his "treasure" awaited...
What a fun treasure hunt.
