13 colonies & the Great Awakening

Yesterday we did something fun and had our school day upstairs in the living room & dining room instead of downstairs...the sun was so bright that I wanted the kids to enjoy it, too.

D learned about the 13 colonies.  He did a nice job coloring it after we labeled all the colonies and compared them with the present day states.  It was interesting for him to see only "half" of Pennsylvania as a colony - not the entire state of today.
Since we were upstairs in the dining room near the computer (that has internet) I had him on this website with a few facts games - he especially liked the pac-man style game only the facts were too hard at times.   It was a nice break from flashcards. :o)

Today for math we took a break from facts completely and spent some time learning about the hours/minutes with some time flashcards (thanks, Mom!).  He did well with the hours and counting by 5's.

K (with the help of D) cut out brown objects for her brown page yesterday.  Her Bible story was about Jesus feeding the crowd of people with only 5 loaves of bread & 2 fish so the color brown was like bread.
Today she used upper & lowercase letter "T" stamps to stamp "T's" all over the green "T" I had cut out.  C was being a stinker at the time and so I left K at the table working.  When I came back down to K I found her finished stamping (she did a great job using only T stamps) but also found the elbow of her shirt dark red.  She had accidentally rested her elbow on the stamp pad.  Thank goodness for washable ink & oxy clean ! :o)  It made me laugh - only K would keep working - no matter if her elbow was wet with ink. :o)
