We did complete Unit 24 this week but I don't have pictures to prove it. :o( This week was a rough week with C (she's getting a few molars all at once - "lucky" her & us). :o( She did not want to nap in the morning and when I tried to let her play downstairs so we could accomplish school she was trying to climb the steps, the gate, the chairs, pulling books off the shelves, grabbing the computer mouse, throwing CDs, etc. So, it's a little crazy right now. :oP :oS :oD Can you tell?!
All of that to say, at the end of the week school was often pushed until the afternoon when she finally fell asleep for her nap. It's not my choice to do school in the afternoon but we're doing what works right now with the least distractions, especially for D. I'm hoping (& praying) next week is better.
D learned about the Great Awakening, the governor of Virginia hiking over the Blue Ridge Mtns and even drew a map of the governor's expedition for history. We finished reading Chatterer the Red Squirrel - these stories are so cute & the vocabulary D is learning is great! D also alphabetized a few words (for a Thinking Skills page) and read a few chapters in a Nate the Great book. We also went to the library and checked out some books that he wants to read and a few for St. Patrick's day next week.
D played a few fact math games on the computer Thursday/Friday. One he really enjoyed was to solve math problems first and then get penguins to catch some fish along with a key to unlock the door at the end of the level. He was doing a great job remembering his facts and attempting some new ones that the computer threw into the mix.
I let K get on the Starfall website to see/listen to more "T" words and the sound of "T" just for fun. She loved it! The other night after I read a book to her and she told me she loves reading, I looked at her and said, "You'll learn to read next year." And she just grinned!
I don't know who's having more fun this year - the kids or ME?! ;o)
I spent a few minutes on Friday planning what we're going to to do for St. Patrick's day this next week. Can't wait to share in a few days!!! I will take pics of our fun activities! :o)
