We began Unit 24 this week. K's new letter is "T" which she knows says "t-t-t like time." Her Bible story today was about Jesus healing a blind man so the activity to go along was to feel objects inside a bag and tell me what they are. She did really well guessing the toys I had put in the bag. She then drew 2 eyes in each box for her "Count on Me" page. She learned her new rhyme with has a lot of motions she likes.
D's still working through his math facts. He says he "hates" the flashcards so we reviewed just the +2 & +3 facts today and then played the Countdown game (add dice #s and flip over the wooden number peg - answer). He surprised me how much he knew the facts - even ones we haven't done with the flashcards yet. Maybe he's just having issues with the plain flashcards. I'll be looking for something creative for tomorrow.
For Phonics, D's reading through a Nate the Great book. I love listening to him read. He cashed in his Book-It coupon from last month on Saturday night. It's fun walking into Pizza Hut and handing the cashier a tiny coupon and walking out with dinner for D. :o)
For history we finished reading about the Pilgrims (to finish Unit 23) and then read about "New Amsterdam" (a.k.a. New York City) and the wall that was originally built there by the Dutch...that area today is known as Wall Street. There was a project to build the wall/city but D didn't want to do it and since it's "extra" I didn't push him to do it today.
Here's D's completed project from last Friday - making a piece of corn & fish (complete with foil scales) and the pilgrim he drew by himself. (Sorry, I forgot to change the layout before I uploaded it.)
