We read The Christmas Day Kitten (James Herriot) earlier this week and D....
- learned about England
- identified it on the globe (he remembered it when I reminded him it was where the pilgrims originated)
- read about English Christmas traditions (Wassail, anyone?)
- baked cinnamon tea biscuits (allrecipes - gotta love it!) - they were really good though we used ww flour & raw sugar to make them a tad healthier
- read through the book a 2nd time and picked out all the action words (verbs) as there were some unique ones in it
D&K reviewed their study of the spine today as we had our initial chiropractor evaluation today. We walked into the exam room and D immediately saw the model of the spine and was able to tell the chiropractor all the parts of it! She was amazed! Then they were looking at the poster with the spine/nerves/internal organs and were naming a lot of the organs. I assured her that they only knew all this because we had studied the human body a few weeks ago. :o)
The kids had extra fun "P.E." today! I finally took them to an indoor play area because we were so close to it in the big city. It's a showroom for swing sets. There are at least 10 play structures, soft rubber flooring, 3 springless trampolines (they're awesome but so $$$$) and lots of plastic Step2 houses, ride-ons and high-end basketball hoops (adjusted to kid's levels). They LOVED playing!!!
K's favorite was the trampoline. She was bummed that only 1 kid was allowed at a time. She really liked bouncing with D, but we had to obey the rules...
D in the "bubble" at the top of one of the largest structures...I think the price on this one was over$10,000. Yes, they're that $$$$$.
K grinning from the crow's nest/lookout on the other side of the biggest structure...
This swing was really neat...it had two "feet" on the "seat" for the kids to stand on!
