The Quiltmaker's Gift - Day 2

We finished up our activities with The Quiltmaker's Gift today. The kids created their bird feeders and we hung them from one of the trees in the backyard.

They didn't really enjoy spreading the sunbutter/shortening spread on the pinecones. So I ended up rolling them in the sunflower seeds for them.
They decided on the tree behind the swing set...we found two tiny branches and hung each one - I'm sure the squirrels are going to love them unless the birds find them first. :o)D began "carrying" with his addition problems today (i.e. 42+39) but Singapore had him doing it horizontally before doing it vertically. He really understood it and did a great job with it today! He told me, "I love 2nd grade math. It's like a puzzle!"

We also opened the 1st gift of "What God Wants for Christmas" today. It's a great tool to teach the Christmas story. I bought it last year on clearance at a Christian bookstore after Christmas, so this year is the first time we've used it. Today's gift was Gabriel - telling Mary she would have a baby. D found Luke 1:26 in his Bible - he's getting better at finding the references! Yeah!
