LAST DAY of HOD!!!!

We recreated our first day pictures for our last day of school pictures.

Doesn't Kate's face in the pic above make you laugh?! She did NOT want her picture taken, so I asked her to stand there for me. She's going through that "no picture" phase like Drew did awhile ago.

I love this picture of Drew - the pose is all his own creativity.

Originally I had planned on Friday being our last day, but the kids were done with their guides today so it was fun to celebrate that accomplishment today and not later in the week! The weather is so warm & sunny that it worked out well for our "celebration" activity, too. The rest of this week we'll spend on state history activities, while doing money & time activities for math. Then during the summer we'll keep learning - just don't tell D&K that! *wink*

It's been a fun year working through the HOD guides for both kids. They have learned so much about their Savior & how much He loves them, besides the academics.

I asked Drew what his favorite part was and he said, "When you read to me those silly stories!" (Thornton Burgess books) I asked him what his least favorite part was and he said, "Math!" Which confused me because usually handwriting is what he has balked at in the past few weeks. Oh well...I'm glad he still enjoys being read to, even though he reads so well on his own, too!

I am rethinking next year's choice of curriculum AGAIN...after some complaints from Drew over the past few months, reading through reviews of next year's guide (science is lacking again like this year's science was), and looking at how Drew learns...HOD is so "easy" for me to do/plan so I don't want to give it up, but I want to do what's best for D (and K)...I've got 2 months to figure it out. :o)

Today Drew enjoyed trying to make something out of this "goop" which was a science activity that went along with his history - overview of all we studied. The "goop" was impossible for Drew (or me) to form, mold, sculpt - yet we were reminded that God made the world & everything in it. It was without form to begin with...yet God formed it.

I found water balloons for $1 in the Target $1 bins on Sunday. I thought that would be a fun celebration activity! I was right. D&K were so excited! They even helped me fill the balloons while we filled the kiddie pool, too.

Drew just threw one at the side of the garage...

Kate said this was her "pond" and so all the balloons were in her "pond" for safe-keeping!

Drew & Kate playing toss...which didn't work so well when the balloon splashed at K's feet...
