Here's the front of it...(he wrote "BOYS" at the top - K was coloring a similar paper and for some reason he thought he'd only learn about boys or keep track of their sports?!)...
Most of the things I printed for his book are from two of my favorite sites... Homeschool Share and ABC Teach , the rest I made on the computer or drew by hand.
Everyday he's tracking the USA's medals (see chart in right pic above) and the weather in Vancouver (back cover of the lapbook)...
We have a few more things to add inside this week, but overall you get the idea of what it is. It was a fun, hands-on project to learn about the special event going on! When he woke up Saturday morning, he immediately turned on the TV and tried to access the Opening Ceremony on the DVR list. He spent almost an hour watching highlights of it and has asked a lot over the weekend to watch events that we have taped (or to check on the medal count!).
Today was our 100th day of homeschool (give or take a few days)...and we celebrated it by using our 100 day pencils the kids picked out at the teacher store the other week.
We took pictures with this frame that said "I survived 100 days of homeschool!"...K was happy this morning, D was struggling (his reminds me a of a mug shot!)...
We also counted out 10 groups of 10 Fruit Loops to make colored (edible) necklaces...D did a great job getting 10 groups (one inside each circle I had drawn on the paper- pic on the right below) and K placed her fruit loops in each circle on a dot. She can count to ten, but to do it that many times I knew she'd give up, so I drew the dots inside each circle to help a little. ;o)
The finished result...(D's attitude about pics has rubbed off on K - I got a quick one of K with a slight pout)...
We then chewed a piece of gum 100 times...D didn't want to do it (not sure why?) but K was all for it - so she popped it in her mouth and we counted by 1s to 100! :o)
I was going to do a few other things, but their attitudes weren't up for the fun. :o( It's definitely a Monday!
After our 100 days activities, we got to work with our schoolwork - K completed Unit 20 today and made a paper lion - she snipped the cuts around the edges and curled the paper with her fingers...it was really cute and she did almost all the work on it!
