We began Unit 4 for both kids which mean new rhymes/fingerplays for each, as well as a new memory verse for D (Proverbs 3:5-6). He completed all his subjects, but his favorite part of the day was this "Egyptian Collar" he made for his artistic activity today...
His Bible story was about Joseph (coat, dreams, sold by his brothers and ending up in Egypt a slave for Potipher and then stopped when he was put in jail). The Bible story book didn't describe details of how he ended up in jail - just that Potipher's wife wanted Joseph to do something wrong, Joseph didn't do what she asked and then she went and told Potipher that he had hurt her. While D was working on his collar, he asked me what it was that Potipher's wife wanted Joseph to do. I explained it was something wrong/bad and he then asked "What?" and so I told him it was something he would learn about when he's older.
He had a lot of fun gluing sequins onto the "collar" (a.k.a. paper plate with middle cut out) and even told me he double/tripled the sequins (gluing small ones on top of the larger ones then gluing them to the collar).
It was still a bit wet an hour later when I had him try it on for the picture, but it fit around his neck and he was proud of his work...
While he was working on this Thinking Skills page, he asked me about what he does after Kindergarten. I told him he'll be in first grade and we'll order the first grade things we need, but that the book he was working in was already first grade as well as his math so for those we'll order 2nd grade next year. He then asked if we'd still be able to do school at home. I told him that if he wants to do it and I don't have to work full-time away from home, we'll continue to do it next year. He smiled and said, "Yes, I want to do it at home. It's fun! I don't waste time!" :o) I'm glad he's enjoying it!
C spent some of the school morning in her crib and then the remainder between her "cage" and my arms...she was a bit cranky again...
K's Bible story was about Isaac marrying Rebekah and having twin baby boys. She loved the picture of the baby boys in Rebekah's arms in her Bible storybook. For her activity she completed the "4" counting page, she cut out 4 girls I had drawn for her. She is getting better at holding the scissors with one hand. She loved being able to glue the girls onto the page by herself.
