When I came down the steps to begin the school day, D said, "It feels like we do school everyday!" I told him it's Friday and after today he has two days off. I then realized this is the first full week that we've done FIVE days of "normal" school downstairs. Every week so far this school year we've had a day where we've done something else (field trip, co-op, day-off, etc.). Poor guy finally has his first week of 5 days and to him it felt like we do school everyday of the week! ;o)
This morning K's Bible story was about Jacob wrestling the angel and K "acted" it out with two objects - she picked two princesses (of course!). Belle was the "angel" and Snow White was "Jacob" - she had to say a few things back and forth between them. She loved it. Then D came over and took the dolls and tried to wrestle them but just about broke them so the acting ended.

K's other activity this morning was gluing Cheerios to letter "D" which she began and ended with the Cheerios on the table, but preferred to eat the Cheerios from the bowl in between so I helped her out a little by gluing some of them.

The finished "D"...it was only about 10 a.m. but she kept telling me she was STARVING and wanted a snack, but then wouldn't finish the cereal in the bowl. She really wanted "gummies" (a.k.a. fruit snacks) but I told her not until after lunch. She was so dramatic and pouted on the stops for awhile.

D's Bible story today was about Moses growing up and then having God talk to him through the burning bush - that didn't burn up! It was linked to his science activity - about plants and what helps them grow (sun, air, water, soil) and so when I flashed him an index card with a picture/word on it, he had to do that. Sun - reach to the sky, soil - stomp his feet, etc. K joined in on the fun.
Then I gave them crepe paper and they waved it around like they were on fire. They had to listen to directions to wave it above, below, beside...etc. It was fun to wach them wiggle around and would have kept doing it if I let them. ;o)

After these activities, D completed the rest of his school day. He said his memory verse all by himself...I was thrilled! He took his chapter 4 math test - got everything right which he told me was "easy" and we'll begin chapter 5 on Monday. He did a great job reading his Phonics story today and we counted 5 lessons until we're done...which means next Friday! He asks everyday now about beginning the Phonics Pathways book.
